Swami Vivekananda
Both Yoga and Pilates offer improved cardiovascular fitness and overall health, better posture, reduced stress, increased strength and flexibility, decreased health complications, and more joy and harmony in living.
STUDIO TO BE CLOSED MONDAY, MAY 27 FOR MEMORIAL DAY
Yoga
The ancient art of Yoga fosters unity with the Divine. The first step is through the mastery of the body. Mastery is sustained through asanas, or postures, and controlled, deliberate breathing. When stillness of the body occurs, the mind can become similarly quiet. Only in stillness is ‘yoga’, which means union of the one with the Source, possible.
Pilates
Originally called ‘Contrology’ by developer Joseph Pilates, the Pilates system involves a series of stretches and exercises that emphasize flexibility and overall strength, particularly of the abdomen, or the “core”.
Popular among dancers and celebrities in Hollywood, both Yoga and Pilates have caught on across the United States. It has been reported that over 15 million Americans participate in these types of classes.
Both offer students the opportunity to increase strength, toning, and definition while lengthening the overall physique. For many, Yoga is also a spiritual practice. We emphasize that this practice be grounded in humility and selflessness and a striving toward divinity.
